ISTANBUL – Iran’s military warned Friday that the United States could launch another attack despite reports that American naval vessels had withdrawn from the region, according to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA).
Iranian Army spokesperson Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akraminia said the possibility of renewed US military action remained, suggesting that Washington could resort to another offensive amid domestic political challenges.
Akraminia warned that Iran’s armed forces would respond decisively to any new attack on the country.
Citing directives from Iran’s supreme leader, he said the military had been instructed to ensure that any retaliation would be immediate, effective, and not limited by geographical boundaries.
The Iranian military official also claimed that US military bases and interests beyond West Asia and the Persian Gulf were within the operational range of Iran’s missiles and drones.
He warned that such facilities could become targets if Washington launched another military offensive against Tehran.
Akraminia maintained that the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway for international oil shipments, remained under Iran’s control and would not reopen until Tehran’s conditions were met.
He emphasized that Iranian forces remained on full alert and prepared to defend the country’s territory and national interests.
The warning comes amid unresolved tensions following the US-Israeli military offensive against Iran that began on February 28.
Although a ceasefire was reached in April and a memorandum aimed at concluding a peace agreement was signed in June, the parties have yet to reach a final settlement.
The latest statements underscore continuing uncertainty over regional security despite diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
