Iranian Ambassador to Japan Peiman Seadat said on Tuesday that he has asked Japan to take a firm stance alongside the international community regarding recent U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.
Seadat made the request during a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on Monday, describing the attacks as violations of international law and the U.N. Charter.
He called the strikes a war crime and an act of genocide, warning that failing to respond could embolden the perpetrators and weaken the international legal order for decades.
The ambassador said the attacks resulted in the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing the incident as a terror act.
Seadat added that Iran will continue its defensive measures until further aggression is halted.
He also defended Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, saying any nation facing existential threats will use its geopolitical tools to protect itself.
Seadat’s statements highlight Tehran’s call for international cooperation in addressing what it views as unlawful military actions.
Japan continues to monitor developments in the region while evaluating potential impacts on security and energy supplies.
