Qatari mediators are expected to present the United States with new proposals aimed at meeting Iran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Monday.
Speaking to Iranian reporters in New York, Araghchi said he met again with Qatari mediators to discuss possible ways to implement Tehran’s conditions.
He said the mediators would raise the proposals with Washington, after which the US response would be relayed to Iran.
Araghchi said he hoped a final response from the US could come by Tuesday.
He added that communication through Qatari and Pakistani mediators had remained open and had become more serious following Iran’s latest proposal.
According to Araghchi, Tehran also used meetings in New York to convey to Washington and the international community the conditions it says must be met before the Strait of Hormuz can reopen.
