Iran claimed early Thursday that it had attacked several major US military targets in Kuwait and Bahrain as tensions in the region continued to escalate.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps reported that the strikes covered 18 US-linked targets in the two Gulf countries.

Among the facilities it identified were the Ali Al Salem and Ahmad Al Jaber bases in Kuwait.

The IRGC also listed the Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain among the targets of the operation.

In a separate statement, Iran’s military announced that it had targeted Patriot missile systems and communications facilities linked to the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.

It also claimed that suicide drones were launched toward the US Fifth Fleet in retaliation for what Tehran described as US attacks on southern Iran.

Iran’s military declared that its forces were prepared to continue confronting the enemy and would not back down until those responsible were punished.

The claims came after US strikes on southern Iran and a series of Iranian attacks aimed at US military assets in the region, deepening fears of a wider conflict.
