MANILA, Philippines — A 24-year-old medical student was rescued in Las Piñas City as police arrested five men during an operation along Alabang-Zapote Road on Sept. 5, the Philippine National Police said.
Authorities found the victim in Barangay Pamplona Tres following an operation led by the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group with personnel from the Las Piñas City Police Station and Southern Police District.
The five suspects, aged 24 to 26, were taken into custody at the scene. The victim and those arrested are all Indian citizens, according to police.
The PNP statement did not disclose what led investigators to the location or provide details about the circumstances under which the medical student was allegedly being held.
Authorities also did not say how long the victim had been missing or whether money or other demands had allegedly been made in exchange for his release.
Following the operation, investigators brought the victim and the five suspects to the Anti-Kidnapping Group headquarters for documentation and further proceedings.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the priority during the operation was securing the victim, while investigators continue determining the circumstances surrounding the case.
Police have yet to announce specific criminal charges against the five suspects. Their arrest does not establish guilt, and they remain presumed innocent unless convicted in court.
