The Premier Volleyball League’s Reinforced Conference is still weeks away, but sister squads ZUS Coffee and Farm Fresh have already made a statement: they’re not just joining the fray—they’re aiming to compete for keeps.
On Friday, both teams unveiled their newest reinforcements, tapping foreign talents whose resumes promise immediate impact. American outside spiker Anna DeBeer will don ZUS Coffee’s colors, while Belgian veteran Helene Rousseaux will suit up for Farm Fresh.
ZUS Coffee doubles down on rising core
After back-to-back playoff appearances in the All-Filipino Conference and On Tour, ZUS Coffee is banking on continuity—then adding firepower. DeBeer, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter, cut her teeth in the US NCAA Division 1 with Louisville before playing professionally for Indy Ignite in the Major Volleyball League, where she piled up 172 points off 148 kills, 17 blocks, and seven aces, while also showing defensive grit with 110 digs.
She joins a maturing ZUS Coffee roster headlined by veteran leader Jovelyn Gonzaga, Rookie of the Year Thea Gagate, prized rookie AC Miner, and steady playmakers like Chinnie Arroyo and Clo Mondoñedo. With DeBeer’s all-around game, ZUS Coffee looks intent on transforming playoff runs into legitimate championship pushes.
Farm Fresh adds world-class experience
Farm Fresh, on the other hand, is opting for experience on a global scale. The 6-foot-2 Rousseaux has worn the Belgian national team jersey in Europe’s top competitions, including a bronze medal run in the 2013 European Championship—the country’s first-ever podium finish. Her career has taken her across elite leagues in Turkey, Italy, Poland, South Korea, Switzerland, and France, giving the Foxies a seasoned scorer and leader.
Rousseaux won’t be alone. She’ll reinforce a Farm Fresh squad already bracing for the debut of newcomers Ces Molina and Riri Meneses, while proven stalwarts like Trisha Tubu, Rachel Anne Daquis, and Jolina Dela Cruz provide depth. Rookie setter Alohi Robins-Hardy adds further intrigue, as she now has a world-class target to set up.
Raising the bar for imports
While foreign reinforcements have always brought intrigue to the PVL, the signings of DeBeer and Rousseaux underscore how quickly the league is professionalizing.
