The Iloilo provincial government recognized 483 barangays that recorded no dengue cases for most of 2025, awarding them cash incentives to support continued disease prevention efforts.

Health officials said the barangays remained dengue-free from Jan. 1 to Oct. 15, 2025, based on official surveillance records from the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.

Each recipient received Php 5,000, bringing the total amount released for the program to around Php 2.5 million, according to the Provincial Health Office.

The incentive program was implemented under an executive order issued earlier this year that encourages sustained community-level action against dengue.

Provincial authorities said the funds may be used for vector control activities, health education campaigns, and capacity-building programs at the barangay level.

Barangays located near Iloilo City attended a recognition ceremony held Monday, while those from more distant municipalities were advised to claim their incentives at the Provincial Treasury.

Miagao accounted for the highest number of awardees, followed by Tubungan, Alimodian, Leon, and Sta. Barbara, with recipients spread across more than 30 local government units.

Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen grassroots participation in dengue prevention and motivate communities to maintain vigilance against the mosquito-borne disease.
