More than 186,000 children in the Ilocos Region had received measles and rubella vaccines as of August 23, the Department of Health regional office said.
DOH-1 reported that 186,376 children had been immunized, equivalent to 41.9 percent of the region’s target coverage.
The vaccinated children included 25,184 aged 6 to 12 months, 34,733 aged 13 to 23 months, and 126,459 aged 24 to 59 months.
Ilocos Norte posted the highest provincial coverage at 74.9 percent, followed by Ilocos Sur at 64.1 percent and La Union at 49.2 percent.
Pangasinan recorded 31.8 percent coverage, while Dagupan City reached 32.2 percent.
Three local governments in Ilocos Norte surpassed the 95 percent target, with Carasi reaching 100 percent, Currimao 96.5 percent and Dingras 95.6 percent.
DOH-1 Director Helen Tobias credited health workers, local governments and volunteers for continuing vaccination activities despite heavy rains, flooding and travel difficulties.
Parents and guardians of children aged 6 to 59 months were urged to bring unvaccinated children to local health units or designated vaccination sites before the campaign ends on August 28.
