ICC Counsel: Duterte’s Assets Could Be Frozen Amid Legal Cases

According to International Criminal Court (ICC) Assistant to Counsel Attorney Kristina Conti, there is a possibility that the assets of former President Rodrigo Duterte could be frozen in connection with the cases filed against him.

Conti explained that it would be up to ICC prosecutors to decide whether to file a motion in court requesting the freezing of Duterte’s assets. However, she emphasized that the timing of such a motion is crucial, particularly since there has been no conviction in the cases related to the drug war killings under Duterte’s administration.

While the possibility exists, any legal action to freeze assets would require careful legal strategy and coordination with relevant authorities. The ICC proceedings remain ongoing, with further developments expected as the case progresses.
