MALASIQUI, Pangasinan — Tourist arrivals at the Hundred Islands National Park in Alaminos City declined during the Holy Week period compared to last year, local officials said.
Data from the city tourism office showed that 18,538 visitors were recorded this year, lower than the 24,464 logged during the same period in 2025.
Assistant tourism officer Rosalie Aruelo attributed the decrease to rising fuel costs linked to tensions in the Middle East, which affected travel plans.
Despite the drop, Aruelo said the turnout remained encouraging for the city’s tourism sector.
Visitor traffic peaked on Maundy Thursday with 4,727 arrivals, followed by 5,638 on Good Friday, 5,709 on Black Saturday, and 2,464 on Easter Sunday.
No major incidents were reported across the islands throughout the observance, according to the tourism office.
Aruelo said efforts would continue to promote the destination and sustain tourism activity despite current challenges.
Among the top attractions is Pilgrimage Island, known for its religious landmarks, while the park offers various activities across its 17 open islands, including swimming, snorkeling, diving, and other recreational pursuits.
