HSBC celebrates growth and opportunities in the Year of the Wooden Snake

HSBC Philippines recently celebrated two major milestones in 2025: the Lunar New Year and its 150th anniversary in the country.

Marking the Year of the Wooden Snake, known for its wisdom and strategic growth, the bank expressed optimism for continued expansion and strengthened partnerships. The festive event, held at Makati Shangri-La, brought together stakeholders and guests to enjoy a night filled with performances, fine dining, and celebration.

HSBC Philippines president and chief executive officer, Sandeep Uppal, shared his excitement for the year ahead. “This year will be filled with opportunities for growth and expansion,” he said, highlighting the bank’s commitment to strengthening relationships with partners and connecting customers to new opportunities.

The dinner had special meaning in each course. The first course, featuring a combination of suckling pig, roast duck, jellyfish, and crispy prawn, symbolized digital innovation. The main course, a baked cod fish with XO sauce, represented enduring wealth for future generations. Dessert, a jasmine and white chocolate mousse, symbolized HSBC’s ongoing growth, nurtured by its people.

The evening was also filled with performances from talented musicians. Sofronio Vasquez III, winner of The Voice US Season 26, wowed the crowd with his renditions of “A Million Dreams” and “Feeling Good.” Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, performed “I Love You Always Forever” and “Dadalhin.” The excitement reached its peak when Gary Valenciano performed alongside his children, Kiana and Gab, delivering memorable performances of “If I Ain’t Got You” and “Shake It Off.”

Having been in the Philippines since 1875, HSBC continues to serve its customers through various banking services, including wholesale, global banking, markets, and personal banking. The bank operates branches in Manila, Cebu, and Davao, and also runs a Global Service Center, maintaining a strong presence in the country for over 150 years. (MAXINE ESTRELLA)
