Ridon claims undeclared Duterte assets found
House prosecutor Terry Ridon claimed Friday that House prosecutors had found new evidence in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment case involving assets allegedly owned by her and her husband but missing from her SALNs.
Ridon, a representative of Ako Bicol, made the disclosure during the launch of Bantay Impeachment at Claret School in Quezon City.
He said the assets appeared in the records of a government agency but were allegedly not declared in Duterte’s Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth from 2007 to 2024.
The fresh evidence targets the impeachment article on alleged unexplained wealth, one of the four charges transmitted by the House to the Senate.
Duterte also faces impeachment complaints over alleged misuse of public funds, bribery, and threats against President Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and former Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Ridon said the evidence was not presented during the House justice committee proceedings and would be introduced at the pretrial stage before the Senate impeachment court.
He said prosecutors may still bring in new evidence before pretrial ends, as long as it supports the existing impeachment articles and is allowed by the Senate court.
Ridon said the prosecution’s pretrial brief would spell out the documents and witnesses to be presented, crediting Manila Rep. Joel Chua for uncovering the material that could bolster the case against Duterte.
