House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III and Senior Deputy Speaker Ferdinand Hernandez on Thursday said they will comply with the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision declaring the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte unconstitutional.

The leaders assured that the House will follow the procedural rules outlined by the SC to ensure proper handling of any future complaints.

The latest impeachment complaint, filed by 215 lawmakers last February, cited alleged misuse of confidential funds and threats against officials, among other claims.

The Senate did not proceed with a trial, returning the articles of impeachment to the House for alleged procedural issues, which the SC later ruled violated the Constitution’s one-year bar rule.

Dy emphasized that impeachment is a process with strict guidelines, and that lawmakers must observe the Constitution in handling complaints against sitting officials.

Hernandez said the House remains committed to respecting the separation of powers and democratic processes while upholding its constitutional responsibilities.

Other lawmakers, including Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro and Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon, said they accept the SC’s decision and will abide by the ruling despite initial frustrations.
