Warm and humid weather affected large parts of the country on Thursday, with state meteorologists warning of possible rain showers in several areas.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said a ridge of a high pressure area continued to influence Northern and Central Luzon, limiting the chances of rainfall in these regions.
Meanwhile, easterlies persisted over Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, bringing moisture that could trigger cloud formation and localized thunderstorms.
Weather specialist Leanne Loreto said northern sections of Luzon saw partly cloudy to overcast skies, while other parts of the country experienced heat and humidity with potential thunderstorms.
She added that similar conditions extended to Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, where brief rain showers remained likely, particularly later in the day.
Temperature levels varied across the country, with Metro Manila expected to reach up to 35°C, while Tuguegarao could climb to 37°C. Cooler conditions were recorded in elevated areas such as Baguio, where temperatures dipped to as low as 16°C.
The weather bureau earlier raised an alert for El Niño, citing a strong likelihood of its development by midyear and possible continuation into early 2027.
Officials said the phenomenon may bring drier conditions in some regions, although the western section of the country could still experience above-normal rainfall during the southwest monsoon, with fewer but more intense tropical cyclones expected from May to October.
