Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) has renewed its partnership with Tamang Ride PH for 2026, reinforcing a shared commitment to promote road safety education among young Filipinos and beginner road users. The collaboration, which began in January 2025, was forged to expand the reach of Honda’s safety advocacy by working with organizations that focus on educating children and new drivers about responsible behavior on the road.
Tamang Ride PH operates under the initiative of A Child’s Trust is Ours to Nurture, Inc. (ACTION), a group dedicated to nurturing safer communities by instilling road awareness early in life. Through the partnership, HFI has been able to extend its safety programs to schools and youth-oriented activities, helping students understand the importance of traffic discipline, safe riding practices, and responsible commuting.
Building on the momentum of the recently held Kids on Safety program, Honda Foundation and Tamang Ride PH conducted another learning event titled Students on Safety on February 28, 2026 at the Parañaque National High School–San Isidro Annex.
During the opening program, representatives from both organizations formalized the continuation of their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement.
The Students on Safety initiative focused on teenagers aged 16 to 18, many of whom are nearing the age when they can apply for their driver’s licenses. The program aimed to prepare them for this responsibility by teaching them about traffic rules, road awareness, and proper riding behavior—skills essential for future drivers and everyday commuters.
The educational modules were curated by Tamang Ride PH and built on the foundations of the Honda Safety Driving Center’s Teen Smart program. By the end of the event, around 100 students had undergone the training and were equipped with a stronger understanding of safe road practices and the mindset needed to become responsible road users.
To complement the classroom sessions, the Honda Safety Driving Center organized hands-on activities designed to simulate real-world riding conditions. A Test Ride and Learn to Ride (LTR) program allowed inexperienced participants to try Honda motorcycles under the supervision of trained instructors, providing them with practical exposure to safe riding techniques.
Honda Foundation President Rie Miyake emphasized the value of the partnership in advancing the organization’s long-term safety advocacy.
“We are grateful to have found a partner like the Tamang Ride PH team. From their president and founder, Mr. Hajime Yokota, and even to the rest of the team, they truly embody the same passion we have for road safety, which you can see translates to our insightful and practical activities with them,” Miyake said.
“We look forward to working with them once again. We hope we can inspire other Filipinos to be more involved in our advocacy since road safety should be a shared goal for all of us,” she added.
The extended collaboration aligns with Honda’s broader global safety strategy. The company has set an ambitious goal of achieving zero collision fatalities involving Honda vehicles worldwide by 2050. As an interim milestone, Honda aims to reduce such fatalities by 50 percent by 2030.
Tamang Ride PH, meanwhile, continues to push its nationwide campaign for safer roads by focusing on early education for children and new drivers. Honda Foundation joined the movement as a Road Safety Ambassador in 2025, with the Honda Safety Driving Center contributing to the development of learning materials and safety training modules.
Honda Foundation’s members include Honda Cars Philippines, Inc., Honda Philippines, Inc., Honda Parts Manufacturing Corporation, and Honda Trading Philippines Ecozone Corporation. Together, the group continues to expand programs that encourage responsible mobility and road safety awareness across communities.
Through continued collaboration with advocacy groups like Tamang Ride PH, Honda hopes to empower young Filipinos with the knowledge and discipline needed to make Philippine roads safer for everyone.
