LEGAZPI CITY – Police arrested a high-value individual and seized suspected shabu valued at about Php 680,000 during an anti-illegal drug operation in Legazpi City, Albay.

Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) said the operation was conducted in Barangay 39, Bonot, as part of its continuing campaign against illegal drugs in the Bicol Region.

Authorities recovered several plastic sachets containing suspected shabu from the arrested individual. The confiscated substance was estimated to have a street value of Php 680,000.

The suspect was classified by authorities as a high-value individual, referring to a person considered a priority target in the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign.

PRO-5 Regional Director PBGen. Randy Glenn Silvio said the arrest reflects the police force’s continuing efforts to pursue individuals allegedly involved in the distribution of illegal drugs.

“Hindi tayo titigil. Patuloy nating tutugisin at papanagutin ang mga sangkot sa illegal drugs. Ang bawat matagumpay na operasyon ay isang hakbang para maprotektahan ang ating mga komunidad at mailayo ang ating mga kabataan sa kapahamakan,” Silvio said.

Silvio added that PRO-5 would further intensify its operations to combat the illegal drug trade throughout the region.

“Sa tulong ng ating mga katuwang na ahensya, paiigtingin pa natin ang ating operasyon upang tuluyang maputol ang daloy ng illegal drugs sa Bicol Region,” he said.

Police also called on residents to cooperate with law enforcement authorities by providing information on suspected illegal drug activities in their communities.

The arrested individual is expected to face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
