President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Henry Rhoel Aguda as the new Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary, replacing Ivan John Uy, who resigned earlier this month. The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced his appointment on Thursday.
“Aguda’s experience spans the banking, technology, and telecommunications sectors,” the PCO said, highlighting his expertise in digital transformation, digital banking, and financial crimes.
Before joining DICT, Aguda served as Digital Infrastructure Lead at the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) and was previously the president and CEO of UnionDigital Bank. He also held leadership roles in City Savings Bank, UBX Philippines, Globe Telecom, GSIS, and Digitel, among others.
A cum laude graduate of the University of the Philippines, Aguda holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He also completed executive programs at Harvard Business School and Wharton and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Applied Business Economics at the University of Asia and the Pacific.
