The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring rains over the western sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas on Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 5 a.m. forecast, PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said Western Visayas, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro and Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the habagat.
Moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas, PAGASA warned.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, particularly in western sections of Luzon.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected across the country.
PAGASA is also monitoring two weather systems outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
As of 3 a.m., Typhoon Dujuan was located about 2,000 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 150 kph while moving northwestward at 20 kph.
Torres said Dujuan is not expected to enter PAR and currently has no direct effect on the Philippines.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area was monitored about 140 kilometers south of Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan. PAGASA said it has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
