At least 2.27 million people had been affected by the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay across several parts of the country, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported.
Of the affected population, 94,997 people were staying in 919 evacuation centers. Communities in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and the Cordillera Administrative Region were affected.
The NDRRMC said in its 6 a.m. report on Tuesday, Aug. 11, that the death toll had reached 19, with Benguet accounting for 12 fatalities, Rizal four and Batangas three.
Nine people died in a landslide in Baguio City, while La Trinidad recorded two deaths and Atok one. Both areas also reported landslide-related fatalities.
In Rizal, two people were killed in a landslide in Rodriguez. Separate incidents left one person dead after being struck by a fallen tree in Antipolo City and another from drowning in Binangonan. Batangas recorded three deaths from drowning, electrocution and a landslide.
Authorities also recorded 15 injured people and four missing. Three of those missing were linked to landslides in Baguio City and Atok, while another case was reported in Batangas.
Damage to infrastructure had reached about Php 1.45 billion, while agricultural losses were estimated at Php 135.33 million. The NDRRMC also recorded 684 damaged houses, including 45 that were destroyed and 639 that sustained partial damage.
