The southwest monsoon is set to continue to bring rain across Metro Manila and several Luzon provinces Thursday morning, although weather conditions were expected to gradually improve as the habagat and Tropical Depression Neneng weakened.
Pagasa’s 8 a.m. advisory placed parts of the capital region under light to moderate rainfall, with heavier downpours possible at times. These included Marikina, Manila, Caloocan, Malabon, Valenzuela, Navotas, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Quezon City, Pasig, Makati and Pateros.
Rain was also expected across Bulacan, Tarlac and Bataan, while several communities in Laguna, Rizal and Cavite were included in the advisory.
In Laguna, areas that could experience rain included Calamba, Cabuyao, Santa Rosa, Los Baños, San Pablo, Santa Cruz and several eastern municipalities. Antipolo, Cainta, Taytay, San Mateo, Rodriguez and other parts of Rizal were also covered.
Cavite residents in Tagaytay, Silang, Alfonso, Amadeo, Indang, Mendez, Maragondon, Ternate, Magallanes and General Emilio Aguinaldo were likewise advised to expect unsettled weather.
Rain was already affecting portions of Zambales, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Pampanga and Batangas when the advisory was released. Among them were Botolan, San Marcelino, Lupao, San Jose, Pantabangan, Muñoz, General Nakar, Floridablanca and Porac.
Several Batangas communities were also experiencing rain, including Taal, Lemery, Agoncillo, Calaca, Balayan, Lian and Calatagan. Pagasa was scheduled to release its next rainfall advisory at 11 a.m.
Despite the morning rains, Pagasa expected conditions to become generally better during the day as Neneng and the habagat lost strength. The tropical depression was also projected to cross northern Taiwan and eventually weaken into a low pressure area.
