One Meralco Foundation (OMF) OMF and Meralco Balagtas Business Center volunteers went house-to-house in Barangay San Juan in Balagtas, Bulacan to provide relief packs to those affected by the southwest monsoon (Habagat).
As floodwaters rose and roads became difficult to cross following heavy southwest monsoon rains, relief teams from One Meralco Foundation (OMF) moved quickly to bring food and essential supplies directly to families stranded in their communities.
Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco), through its corporate social responsibility arm OMF, joined forces with local governments, Meralco business centers, Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN), animal welfare initiative CATropa and other partners to mount relief operations across severely affected areas.

Lilibeth Roberto, one of the residents affected by the Habagat in Hagonoy, Bulacan, received a relief pack from OMF at a time when her small eatery was forced to stop its operations due to floods.
The response has so far reached around 2,500 families in San Miguel, Balagtas, Calumpit and Hagonoy in Bulacan; Bacoor City and Tanza in Cavite; and San Mateo in Rizal. Relief distribution is set to continue as communities recover from flooding brought by the Habagat and high tides.
In Balagtas, Bulacan, OMF volunteers and personnel from the Meralco Balagtas Business Center went house-to-house in Barangay San Juan, wading through deep floodwaters to deliver food packs to residents unable to leave their homes.
Working with the municipal government led by Mayor Andy “Andrews” Santiago, the teams brought assistance directly to families cut off by impassable roads.
“Maraming salamat po sa One Meralco Foundation sa inyong ipinagkaloob na relief goods para sa ating mga kababayan,” Santiago said. “Malaking tulong po ito sa ating mga pamilyang nangangailangan. Maraming salamat po sa inyong malasakit at pakikiisa.”
In Hagonoy, Bulacan, help reached residents after community coordinator Gelvien Montalla contacted OMF online to seek assistance for flood-hit families.
Among those who received relief was Lilibeth Roberto, a single mother caring for a child with a disability. Flooding forced her small eatery to suspend operations, cutting off her source of income.
“Malaking bagay itong relief dahil wala akong kabuhayan ngayon,” Roberto said.
OMF also extended assistance to evacuation centers and frontline workers in Bacoor City, Cavite. Together with the Meralco Bacoor Business Center, the foundation distributed relief packs to evacuated families from Barangays Aniban 1, Aniban 2 and Ligas 1, as well as traffic enforcers whose own homes were submerged by floodwaters.
Additional food supplies were turned over to Bacoor City Mayor Strike B. Revilla for distribution to other affected barangays.
In Tanza, Cavite, OMF and the Meralco Rosario Business Center partnered with the local government led by Mayor Archangelo Matro to provide relief packs to affected families.
Relief efforts also reached Calumpit, Bulacan, where Vice Mayor Zacarias “Doc Zar” Candelaria joined OMF and the Meralco Malolos Business Center in assisting residents.
In Barangay Balungao, the response went beyond helping people. OMF teamed up with the Philippine Animal Welfare Society and CATropa to distribute food packs and rice to families, as well as supplies for pets. Volunteers braved floodwaters to make sure assistance reached households with companion animals.
MGEN volunteers from MTerra Solar and MGEN Renewables Bulacan Solar likewise distributed relief packs to disaster-hit residents in San Miguel, Bulacan.
Separate relief operations were also conducted for residents of Barangay Guinayang in Marikina City through OMF and the Meralco Marikina Business Center.
OMF said the continuing initiative forms part of its broader disaster response program, which focuses on delivering immediate assistance to communities during calamities and helping families cope with the disruption caused by severe weather.
“In times of disaster, our responsibility to communities extends far beyond restoring physical light—it is about restoring hope,” OMF President Jeffrey Tarayao said.
“As heavy rains and the Habagat disrupt lives across the nation, we remain steadfast in our commitment to stand by our fellow Filipinos when they need us most.”
