Wet weather will linger over much of Luzon on Wednesday, Sept. 9, with two weather systems influencing conditions across the northern and western sections of the country.
The southwest monsoon, or habagat, will bring occasional rains to Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Residents of Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon should also prepare for scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Similar conditions are expected in Aklan and Antique as monsoon winds continue to affect the western portion of the country.
Farther north, a tropical depression already outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is extending its trough toward the Philippines. This will bring scattered rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley and Aurora.
The weather disturbance is the former Tropical Cyclone Pilandok, internationally known as Krovan. PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said its cloud bands continue to reach Northern Luzon despite the cyclone remaining beyond PAR.
Much of Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas, meanwhile, will experience generally hot and humid conditions.
No low-pressure area is currently being monitored inside PAR, but PAGASA said another weather disturbance could develop in the coming days.
A possible low-pressure area may form by Friday, Sept. 11, according to Dominguez. Should it develop, the system could strengthen the habagat and potentially bring additional rainfall to parts of the country.
