The southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, is expected to bring generally fair weather with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms across much of the country on Monday, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas and Lanao del Norte may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
Pagasa said the southwest monsoon was expected to continue affecting the country over the next two to three days.
They added that isolated rain showers and thunderstorms could still occur, particularly during the afternoon and evening.
The weather agency also said a cloud cluster being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) still had the potential to develop into a low pressure area in the coming days.
The weather disturbance, however, was not expected to affect any part of the country for now.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said no gale warning had been raised over any of the country’s seaboards.
Fisherfolk and small boat operators were nevertheless advised to remain alert for possible thunderstorms that could trigger sudden rough sea conditions.
