Green GSM, the Philippines’ first all-electric taxi service, is winning over Metro Manila commuters with rides that are spotless, quiet, and reliably on time—setting a new benchmark for the daily commute.
Launched just two months ago, the pioneering service isn’t chasing after luxury or flash. Instead, it focuses on simple but rare values in the local taxi scene: comfort, cleanliness, and punctuality. And so far, riders say the difference is striking.
“Compared to other apps, this one’s way more dependable,” said passenger Gabriel Joshua R. Ancheta. “The rides arrive on time, the drivers are polite, and I always feel safe.” Other early users highlight the absence of the typical fuel smell, replaced instead with fresh air, and the soothing quiet of electric vehicles that glide smoothly through Manila’s streets.
At the company’s launch, Global CEO Nguyen Van Thanh called it “a green mobility revolution in the Philippines.” Early feedback suggests it’s exactly that.

The luxury of quiet
One of the first things passengers notice is the silence. Green GSM’s Nerio electric vehicles run without the noise and vibration of gasoline-powered taxis. Even in traffic, the cabins remain calm and cool, thanks to engines that produce no heat.
“The car is very clean and comfortable even in hot weather—no bad smells, very organized,” said Yaj Myel Manzo. For many riders, it feels less like a new brand and more like the new standard for taxis.
“As clean as a new car”
Manila commuters have long accepted the reality of grimy, poorly maintained taxis. Green GSM flips that expectation.
“No bad smell of emission, VIP feels on the passenger seat,” said rider Mary Joyce L. Salazar. Ancheta described the cars as feeling “brand new” every trip, while another passenger, Chavez, noted that the vehicles “stay cool, clean, and comfortable” even in the heat of day. What surprises passengers most is the consistency—every car meets the same standard, every time.
Fast, simple booking
The positive experience extends to the app. Riders praise its ease of use, with Manzo calling it “very user-friendly” and Ancheta describing it as “super simple, even if you’re not tech-savvy.” For commuters used to clunky ride-hailing apps or unpredictable arrivals, Green GSM’s punctuality and simplicity stand out as major draws.
Changing daily habits
The appeal goes beyond comfort. With Manila’s air quality often in question, Green GSM’s zero-emission rides offer commuters a sense of contributing to a healthier environment.
“It’s better for people’s health and truly the best choice for transportation today,” said Manzo. Chavez added: “Whenever I take a Green GSM ride, I feel like I’m making a small impact on the environment in a good way… and the service is solid.”
The timing couldn’t be better. The Philippine ride-hailing market has already reached $804 million this year and is projected to surpass $1 billion in the near future. In this fast-growing space, Green GSM is carving out a niche by combining sustainability with reliability—and giving Manila commuters a reason to rethink what a taxi ride should feel like.
