Gov’t offices to implement half-day WFH on Holy Wednesday

Malacañang has announced that government offices will implement a work-from-home setup from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and suspend work from noon onwards on Holy Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

This move aims to give government employees enough time to travel and prepare for the Holy Week break.

“To provide government employees full opportunity to properly observe Maundy Thursday and Good Friday on 17-18 April 2025, and to allow them to travel to and from the different regions in the country, the following arrangements are hereby adopted in government offices on 16 April 2025: (a) work from home from 8:00 in the morning to 12:00 in the afternoon, subject to existing laws, rules and regulations; and (b) suspension of work in government offices, from 12:00 in the afternoon onwards,” stated Memorandum Circular No. 81 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Monday.

The circular also noted that government agencies involved in essential services such as health, disaster response, and other vital operations will continue under their regular work schedules.

As for private offices, the adoption of work-from-home arrangements and work suspension will be at the discretion of their respective employers.

Many travelers have already begun heading to the provinces to observe Holy Week, a significant religious tradition marked by church activities, processions, and personal acts of reflection and penance.
