In line with President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. (PBBM)’s advocacy to provide affordable housing to Filipinos under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has awarded land titles to three government employees in Benguet as part of its commitment in helping more Filipino families achieve the dream of homeownership.
According to GSIS president and general manager Jose Arnulfo ‘Wickn Veloso, the title awarding reflects GSIS’ continuing efforts to provide practical and affordable housing solutions for government workers through the GSIS Pabahay program.
GM Veloso led the awarding of the transfer certificates of titles (TCTs) to Imelda Cristeta Villamar of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation-Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora Valbuena of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC)-Baguio and Lorna Bandonill of the GSIS Baguio branch office.
“Behind every title is a family that can now plan with confidence, live with peace of mind, and say with certainty that this home is theirs,” Veloso enthused after the awarding ceremony.
Among the Pabahay program of GSIS is the Lease with Option to Buy (LWOB) where qualified members may first lease a GSIS-acquired property and later purchase it without paying a downpayment, with repayment terms of up to 25 years and interest rates lower than those offered by commercial banks.
In addition, GSIS also condones penalties for qualified members who remain committed to completing their housing obligations.
“We know that the downpayment is often what prevents many members from taking the first step toward owning a home. Through the Lease with Option to Buy program, we removed that barrier,” Veloso pointed out.
To date, the LWOB program has enabled more than 5,000 families nationwide to become full homeowners. GSIS has also made over 12,000 acquired assets available for acquisition, including 22 properties in the Cordillera Administrative Region—17 in Baguio City, two in Itogon, two in La Trinidad, and one in Tuba, Benguet.
The latest title awarding underscores GSIS’ continuing support for the Marcos administration’s housing agenda by translating national policy into concrete benefits for government employees, giving more families the security of owning a home and a stronger foundation for their future.
