NUEVA VIZCAYA – The government has allocated more than Php 740 million in financial assistance and agricultural support for Nueva Vizcaya as part of early preparations for the potentially severe effects of Super El Niño.

Nueva Vizcaya is among the provinces expected to be heavily affected by prolonged dry conditions, prompting authorities to implement measures aimed at protecting agricultural production and supporting vulnerable communities.

As part of the preparations, the government allocated Php 20 million for solar-powered water pumps and fuel assistance to help farmers maintain irrigation operations amid possible water shortages.

Another Php 17.9 million was earmarked for seeds and fertilizers to support crop production and help farmers sustain their livelihoods during the anticipated dry spell.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) allocated Php 702.619 million in financial assistance for 68,905 beneficiaries under its UPLIFT Emergency Cash Transfer Program.

The program aims to provide financial relief to families and individuals who may experience economic difficulties due to extreme weather conditions.

In addition to financial assistance, the government distributed irrigation pipes and agricultural machinery to improve water distribution systems and help farmers continue their operations.

The equipment is expected to strengthen irrigation capacity, particularly in farming communities vulnerable to reduced rainfall and limited water supply.

The combined allocations amount to approximately Php 740.52 million, covering agricultural assistance, irrigation support and emergency cash transfers.

The early interventions are intended to reduce the potential impact of Super El Niño on agricultural productivity, food security and household incomes in Nueva Vizcaya.

Authorities are prioritizing assistance to farmers and vulnerable families as part of broader government efforts to strengthen preparedness against prolonged drought and other climate-related challenges.
