5G-Advance field test in Bonifacio High Street with Joel Agustin, Globe’s SVP, head of Service Planning & Engineering.
Globe has just pushed the boundaries of Philippine mobile technology, successfully completing the country’s first-ever live pilot trial of 5G-Advanced — a breakthrough that promises to redefine how Filipinos connect, work, and play.
Conducted in the bustling heart of Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, the trial showcased the raw power and potential of 5G-Advanced across real-world scenarios — from lightning-fast consumer experiences to next-level enterprise solutions. The results? A jaw-dropping peak download speed of around 2.5 Gbps, proving that Globe’s next-gen network can deliver blazing speeds, ultra-low latency, rock-solid reliability, and massive capacity — far surpassing today’s 5G.
This milestone was made possible through a 5G Stand-Alone (SA) network paired with advanced tech like Massive MIMO and Carrier Aggregation of three 5G/NR Component Carriers (3NRCA) combining for a hefty 210 MHz bandwidth. Paired with a 5G-SA capable device, the experience was seamless — think instant 4K movie downloads, lag-free cloud gaming, and smooth XR applications without a hiccup.

“Globe has consistently been at the forefront of Philippine telecommunications innovation,” said Globe president and CEO Carl Cruz. “Our commitment is to keep introducing cutting-edge technologies that empower Filipinos and redefine the way they connect.”
Also called 5.5G, 5G-Advanced is the next leap in mobile evolution — built to handle the demands of an increasingly connected, AI-driven world. From immersive Extended Reality (XR) to Industrial IoT, autonomous vehicles, and AI-powered services, this upgrade opens the door to smarter, faster, and more responsive digital ecosystems.
Globally, the 5G-Advanced rollout is still in its early stages. According to the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) as of May 2025, only six operators have commercially launched it, while 20 others are in various stages of trials and planning. In Southeast Asia, leaders like Singtel (Singapore) and AIS (Thailand) have already rolled out 5G+ networks. Now, with Globe taking the lead in the Philippines, the country is officially on the map in this next-generation race.
