Globe is extending free roaming services to customers in Indonesia following the powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck off Flores Island in the eastern part of the country, helping Filipinos stay connected with family and loved ones amid widespread disruption.
The earthquake triggered landslides, power outages and damage to homes and public facilities, forcing thousands of residents from their communities as rescue and damage-assessment operations continue.
Through Alagang Globe, eligible customers currently in Indonesia will receive 15 minutes of incoming and outgoing calls, 15 texts to all networks and 1 GB of mobile data, valid for seven days at no additional cost.
The assistance is designed to give customers an immediate way to contact relatives, share updates on their condition and access important information while emergency response efforts remain underway.
“During emergencies, staying connected becomes even more important, especially for Filipinos who are away from home. We want to help our customers in Indonesia reach their loved ones and maintain vital lines of communication during this difficult time,” said Paula Rivera-Castillo, Globe Senior Director for International Business.
Customers do not need to register for the offer. The free roaming package will be automatically provided to eligible Globe subscribers detected in Indonesia.
To activate the service, customers only need to connect to Globe’s roaming partners Telkomsel or Indosat. A confirmation message will be sent once the free package is active and ready for use.
For calls, customers may dial “+” followed by the country code, area code and telephone number, or “+” followed by the country code and mobile number. For text messages, they should enter “+” followed by the country code and mobile number.
Once the package has been activated, customers may turn on mobile data and data roaming in their phone settings to use the free 1 GB allocation. Postpaid subscribers are advised to switch on mobile data and data roaming only after receiving the activation confirmation.
