Globe, BPI test game-changing silent authentication to crush OTP scams

Globe and the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) are pushing Philippine digital security into a new era with the rollout of a Proof of Concept (POC) for Silent Network Authentication (SNA) under Globe’s G Verify platform. The technology promises a future where banking is safer, faster, and free from the hassles and vulnerabilities of traditional one-time passwords.

Silent Network Authentication is a next-generation verification method that instantly confirms a user’s identity through real-time network intelligence—without any codes, SMS prompts, or manual input. By removing OTPs from the process, SNA aims to sharply reduce fraud exposure and give customers seamless, worry-free access to their digital transactions.

The initiative aligns with Globe’s G Verify portfolio, which uses secure APIs and network-level data to detect fraud and validate users. Through the POC, Globe and BPI—both Ayala Group companies—are jointly testing a secure mechanism that confirms the real device owner in real time, eliminating unnecessary steps and strengthening account protection.

“Security and simplicity should always go together,” said KD Dizon, Vice President and Head of Globe Business. “Our collaboration with BPI allows us to validate Silent Network Authentication in real-world banking environments, giving Filipinos the confidence to transact safely.”

BPI echoes the same mission of putting client protection at the center of innovation. “We are testing an advanced authentication approach that fortifies security while staying completely frictionless,” said Alex Seminiano, BPI Chief Technology Officer. “This ensures clients remain at the heart of every digital experience we design.”

The successful POC enabled BPI’s test application to directly interface with Globe’s Network Exposure Platform, confirming identities at the network level and eliminating the need for SMS-based verification. The setup is fully aligned with GSMA and CAMARA global standards, reinforcing the country’s move toward more trusted and future-ready digital ecosystems.

Beyond this collaboration, Globe is in talks with leading banks, fintechs, and e-commerce platforms to explore broader use cases for network-powered authentication—an effort that supports the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ call for more robust and adaptive cybersecurity.

“We are shaping a digital future anchored on trust,” Dizon added. “Silent Network Authentication shows how Globe is harnessing network intelligence and partnerships to deliver simpler and smarter digital experiences for Filipinos.”

The POC stands as a milestone in redefining digital identity in the Philippines—one built on stronger protection, effortless user journeys, and shared commitment to securing the nation’s fast-growing digital economy.
