MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Young graduates from third district towns of Pangasinan are thankful for the financial gains and experience they will have from the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Government Internship Program (GIP).
Julie Ann De Vera of Calasiao town, a new graduate of Elementary Education, said in an interview Friday, said the GIP is timely as she needs to prepare financially for the licensure examination.
“I won’t need to ask my family for the licensure exam fees and I would even give them the extra amount from my salary,” she said.
Under the program, the beneficiaries will work for three months, starting on Sept. 28, with PHP505 daily wage, Monday to Friday.
Their contracts may be extended depending on the availability of funds.
Zandara Diaz of San Carlos City and graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education said she is grateful for the opportunity to work and earn.
“To the national government, thanks so much for giving us fresh graduates this opportunity to work, especially that it is difficult for fresh grads to look for a job,” she said.
Alexander Del Rosario, also of San Carlos City and a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, said the program would give him the experience that he could apply later on.
“I would be able to gain real job experience and would be able improve my skills and abilities,” he said.
His work as an intern at the Department of the Interior and Local Government matches with his course.
Gemma Rose Abuan of Malasiqui and a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education said she would use the experience under GIP as a stepping stone if she ever decides to pursue work in government.
“I am so thankful to the national government and DOLE for the program,” she said.
GIP is aimed at providing young workers the opportunity to hone their potentials in public service.
Applicants must be 18 to 30 years old, with at least a high school diploma. Exceptions may be granted in areas affected by disasters or other extraordinary circumstances.
