Gilas Pilipinas Youth opened its FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers campaign with a dominant 113-62 victory over Vietnam on Saturday at the Bren Z. Guiao Sports Complex in Pampanga.
Travis and Jolo Pascual led the charge as the Philippines cruised to a 1-0 start, while Vietnam dropped to 0-1.
Off the bench, the 5-foot-9 Travis Pascual delivered 16 points, four rebounds, four steals, and an assist. His 6-foot-1 namesake Jolo Pascual added 14 points, three rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block.
Gilas broke away from a tight 29-20 first quarter, outscoring Vietnam 32-13 in the second to build a commanding 61-33 halftime lead, never looking back from there.
Prince Cariño also shined with a double-double performance of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Jhustin Hallare and Jhello Lumague chipped in 10 points each to round out the balanced attack.
