Gilas women’s 3×3 falls to Australia, loses Clarin to injury

Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 team suffered a tough blow in the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup on Saturday, losing 21-8 to Australia while also seeing Camille Clarin exit with a right knee injury.

Clarin went down in pain at the 4:54 mark while driving to the basket with the Philippines trailing 15-6. She appeared to twist her knee while planting her foot, immediately clutching it in distress. She finished with two points before leaving the game.

Jhaz Joson and Mikka Cacho contributed three and two points, respectively, for the Philippines, while Australia’s Alex Wilson led all scorers with nine points, followed by Marena Whittle with eight.

The loss drops the Nationals to 1-1 in Pool D after their dominant 21-4 win over Indonesia. With Clarin likely sidelined, the team will rely on Joson, Cacho, and Kaye Pingol in their crucial matchup against Mongolia on Sunday at 3:10 p.m.
