Gilas Pilipinas women finish fourth in FIBA 3×3 asia cup

A short-handed Gilas Pilipinas Women team fell short of a podium finish after a 22-9 loss to Japan in the semifinals of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup on Sunday in Singapore.

Missing Camille Clarin due to injury, the Filipinas also lost their battle for third place against China, 21-11, ultimately ending their medal hopes.

In an update, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) revealed that Clarin suffered a high-grade partial ACL tear, as confirmed by an MRI. She sustained the injury midway through their preliminary game against Australia on Saturday.

Despite being down to three players, Mikka Cacho led the fight, scoring five points and grabbing four rebounds against Japan, followed by six points and six boards against China.

Australia clinched the gold medal, edging out Japan 21-17 in the final.
