Gardo nears PAR exit as Habagat brings rains

Severe Tropical Storm Gardo is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday as the southwest monsoon continues to bring rain over parts of Luzon and the Visayas, Pagasa said.

In its latest weather briefing, the weather bureau located Gardo 1,280 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon.

The storm carried maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 115 kilometers per hour.

Gardo was moving north-northwest at 25 kilometers per hour.

Pagasa said the storm may exit PAR between Friday morning and noon after staying inside the country’s monitoring area for about a day.

No tropical cyclone wind signal was raised in any part of the country.

Pagasa said occasional rains due to Habagat are expected over Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are also forecast over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of Mimaropa, while other parts of Luzon and the Visayas may experience isolated rains due to Habagat. Mindanao will have localized thunderstorms.
