Jude Garcia continues to anchor the dominance of Criss Cross in the 2026 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference, earning the Spikers’ Turf Press Corps Player of the Week honors for the period of March 4 to 8 after leading the King Crunchers to another pair of commanding victories.
The Far Eastern University product delivered standout performances against the 3B Even Masters and the Savouge Spin Doctors, helping Criss Cross remain unbeaten in the first round of the tournament.
Garcia turned in a complete all-around effort in their March 6 win over the Even Masters at the Filoil Centre, finishing with 26 points built on 19 attacks, five blocks, and two aces as the King Crunchers rallied from a first-set loss to prevail, 22-25, 25-10, 25-13, 25-15.
He followed that up with another efficient showing on Sunday, tallying 13 points in Criss Cross’ straight-sets victory over the Spin Doctors, 25-23, 29-27, 25-17.
Despite their perfect run so far, Garcia stressed the importance of staying focused as the tournament progresses.
“All the teams on Spikers’ Turf are really preparing for us. They want to beat us, so we just have to focus on every game and every match. We really need 100 percent, so we shouldn’t be complacent about our situation even though we haven’t lost yet,” Garcia said in a news release Monday.
“We need to work harder every game, every set. We really need to focus on the court, it’s still there. We need to not be complacent, no matter who the opponent is,” he added.
Garcia edged out several strong contenders for the weekly citation, including teammates Alche Gupiteo and Adrian Villados, Savouge’s Louie Ramirez, Alpha Insurance’s JM Ronquillo and Cian Silang, and AEP Cabstars’ Jay Rack De La Noche. The award is determined by print and online reporters covering the pioneering men’s volleyball league organized by Sports Vision.
Riding the momentum of their flawless start, Garcia and the King Crunchers now set their sights on extending their streak when they face the Alpha Insurance Protectors in the second round on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in San Juan City.
