De’Aaron Fox poured in 28 points and handed out 11 assists to power the San Antonio Spurs to a 123-110 win over his former team, the Sacramento Kings, on Sunday.
The Spurs were without star center Victor Wembanyama, sidelined with left calf tightness, but the team maintained control, leading by eight at halftime and extending the margin to 19 late in the third quarter.
Harrison Barnes added 20 points, Devin Vassell finished with 16, Keldon Johnson had 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Luke Kornet tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds. Julian Champagnie and Jeremy Sochan contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively, as San Antonio snapped a two-game skid.
DeMar DeRozan led Sacramento with 27 points on 12-of-15 shooting. Dennis Schroder scored 22, Domantas Sabonis had 17 points and 13 rebounds, Malik Monk added 16, and Russell Westbrook posted 14 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. The Kings have now dropped six straight games.
San Antonio led most of the contest, jumping ahead 36-21 after Sochan’s three-pointer late in the first quarter. Sacramento briefly cut the deficit to 51-43 in the second quarter, but the Spurs’ balanced attack, including another Sochan three-pointer, pushed the lead to 64-48 by halftime.
Fox paced the Spurs with 12 points at the break, while Vassell and Johnson added 10 each. DeRozan led all scorers with 18 points before halftime, keeping Sacramento within reach temporarily.
