Five weather systems, including a low-pressure area (LPA) and the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains across the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tuesday.
In its 5 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the LPA was located 275 kilometers east of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan. It has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression but is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Dinagat Islands. The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
Batanes will experience cloudy skies with rains due to the “amihan,” which PAGASA officially declared has begun on Monday—signaling the start of cooler and drier months in most parts of the country.
Meanwhile, easterlies are affecting Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong northeast winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over extreme northern Luzon, while other parts of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
