FEU climbs to 6th win, holds off UE to stay in UAAP Final 4 contention

Far Eastern University (FEU) kept its postseason hopes alive after surviving a scare from the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors, 84-77, in the UAAP Season 88 Men’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The crucial victory secured the Tamaraws their sixth win in 13 games, maintaining their bid for a spot in the Final Four.

FEU secured the win behind a balanced offensive attack, with five players scoring in double digits. Jorick Bautista and Mo Konateh led the charge, each finishing with 15 points. Konateh added eight rebounds, while Bautista dished out six assists.

Kirby Mongcopa provided a double-double performance with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Janrey Pasaol chipped in 11 points and six assists. Niel Owens rounded out the top scorers with 10 points.

On the losing end, the Red Warriors concluded their 14-game campaign winless (0-14). 

This defeat marked their 20th consecutive loss stretching back to the second round of Season 87. 

Despite the team’s struggles, Precious Momowei delivered a strong performance with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Wello Lingolingo added 14 points.
