A former barangay official and two other men were taken into custody in General Santos City after a police buy-bust operation allegedly yielded more than 200 grams of suspected shabu valued at about Php 1.36 million.
Authorities carried out the operation in Barangay Labangal on Sept. 8, with personnel from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 12 working alongside General Santos City Police Office Station 2 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 12.
Police identified the arrested men only through their aliases: “Naro,” 50, a former elected barangay kagawad of Barangay Mangay in Talitay, BARMM; “Jolt,” 44; and “Kick,” 51. The latter two were described as residents of Purok Mudia in Barangay Labangal.
According to police, one sachet containing about 5.17 grams of suspected shabu was recovered during the alleged transaction. Four additional sachets weighing about 195.63 grams were later found in the suspects’ possession.
The confiscated substance had a combined estimated weight of 200.8 grams and an estimated standard drug price of Php 1,365,440, police said. Operatives also recovered the buy-bust money and other items allegedly used to hide the drugs.
The suspected shabu was submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit in General Santos City for laboratory examination.
The three men were detained at Police Station 2 while authorities prepared complaints for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, for inquest proceedings.
