Two senior high school students from Davao City emerged with the top distinction in an international academic competition held in Bangkok, Thailand.
University of the Immaculate Conception Grade 12 students Reine Therese Bad-ang and Whitney Pajarillaga received the Diamond Award in English Category 6, which covers Grades 11 to 12, at the Asiarope Olympiad on Sept. 7.
Bad-ang also recorded the highest score among competitors in their category, adding another international achievement to her academic record this year.
The Bangkok competition tested participating students across several disciplines, including English, Mathematics, Science and Journalism.
Before competing in Thailand, Bad-ang had represented the Philippines in two other overseas academic contests during School Year 2026-2027.
She earned a Diamond Award at the Global English Language Olympiad of Southeast Asia in Singapore on April 7. She later won silver and finished as the top scorer in English Category 6 at the AmerAsian Tesla Olympiad in Houston, Texas, on May 26.
Bad-ang said participating in international competitions had given her opportunities not only to test her academic skills but also to interact with students from different countries.
She credited her family, particularly her mother, as well as her teachers and friends for helping her through the competitions.
