TACURONG CITY — A former official from Maguindanao del Sur survived a gun attack here Monday morning after gunmen opened fire on his bullet-proof sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Taharuddin Nul Mlok, 51, a resident of Datu Piang town and former Maguindanao del Sur board member, was unhurt in the ambush, which occurred around 10:45 a.m. along a busy street in Barangay New Carmen.
Police said Mlok had just boarded his armored black SUV in front of a convenience store when four men onboard two motorcycles, approached and opened fire.
Due to the vehicle’s protection, Mlok was unharmed and, along with his companions, pursued the suspects, resulting in a brief exchange of gunfire.
Tacurong City police have launched a manhunt for the four attackers.
Investigators recovered one of the motorbikes used by the suspects, which was found ditched in Barangay New Carmen.
The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
