Ex-DPWH Chief Bonoan faces fire: Ombudsman probes Plaridel flood project scandal

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) announced Tuesday that it will request the Office of the Ombudsman to investigate possible violations committed by former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan in connection with a questionable flood control project in Plaridel, Bulacan.

ICI chairperson Andres Reyes said Bonoan, along with former Undersecretary Cathy Cabral, may have violated the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials.

Bonoan resigned in August amid allegations of irregularities involving several flood control projects under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

He was succeeded by Vince Dizon, who pledged to implement reforms and eliminate corruption within the agency.
