Police arrested two men linked to the fatal shooting of a police noncommissioned officer during a gathering in a subdivision in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

Authorities said the suspects were taken into custody on March 10 following follow up operations conducted by several police units.

One of the suspects, a 43 year old former police officer, was believed to have fired the shots, while the other, a 42 year old man, was suspected to have served as the driver.

Investigators said the shooting occurred on March 8 during a homeowners association event in Brooklyn Heights Subdivision in Barangay Panginay, Guiguinto, Bulacan.

The police officer died from gunshot wounds sustained during the attack. A 54 year old resident was also injured when the suspect opened fire at the crowd.

Police later recovered firearms, ammunition, motorcycles, mobile phones and an explosive device from the suspects during subsequent operations.

Authorities said the two men are now facing charges of murder, frustrated homicide and violations of laws regulating firearms and explosives.

“Pinupuri ko ang ating mga pulis sa maagap at maayos nilang pagtugon sa insidente. Ang mabilis na pagkilos ng ating mga operatiba ay patunay ng kahandaan at pagiging alerto ng PNP sa pagpapanatili ng kaayusan at kapayapaan sa komunidad,” PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.
