MANILA – Former Bangsamoro parliament member Sultan Edrieza Nasser Rimbang has strongly denied allegations that he financed or participated in an illegal drug shipment from Laos allegedly intended for the Philippines.

In a statement dated October 23, Rimbang rejected claims linking him to the suspected drug trafficking operation, insisting that he had no involvement in the shipment.

“Hindi po totoo na kasama po ako diyan sa Laos at hindi rin po totoo na financer po ako ng drugs,” Rimbang said.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) earlier identified Rimbang as the alleged mastermind behind the drug shipment, prompting him to publicly deny the accusations.

Rimbang questioned why he was being associated with the illegal drug operation despite maintaining that he had no connection to it.

“Bakit ako niyo ako inuugnay sa ganiyang droga na hindi naman ako kasama… Huwag po natin i-link ako diyan sa Laos dahil po ako ay maka-Duterte,” he added.

The former Bangsamoro official also cited his support for the Duterte family while appealing to authorities and the public not to implicate him in the case.

Rimbang maintained that allegations portraying him as a financier of illegal drugs were false.

His denial comes amid PDEA’s allegations concerning the intercepted shipment from Laos.

The accusations against Rimbang remain allegations, and no court finding establishing his involvement was cited in the available information.
