Electric vehicle charging is becoming part of the everyday mall experience as Movem Electric Inc. and Filinvest Malls team up to expand EV-ready infrastructure across Filinvest properties.
The partnership has kicked off at Festival Mall in Muntinlupa City with the launch of an EV charging facility that also doubles as a digital advertising platform, combining sustainable mobility with customer engagement technology.
Located at the mall’s Alabang-Zapote parking area, the station allows EV drivers to recharge their vehicles while giving brands another digital touchpoint to reach shoppers and motorists.
Movem, the wholly owned electric mobility solutions arm of Manila Electric Co. or Meralco, said the initiative is designed to make charging more accessible by placing infrastructure in locations where motorists already spend time.
The facility is supported by ChargeM, Movem’s mobile application that allows users to access compatible chargers and manage their charging sessions digitally.
The combination of physical charging infrastructure and a mobile platform reflects the growing push to make EV ownership more convenient as electric vehicles gradually gain traction in the Philippine market.
For Filinvest Malls, the project also forms part of a broader effort to integrate sustainable mobility into its properties and prepare its developments for the expected growth in EV demand.
The collaboration is expected to extend beyond Festival Mall, with Movem set to support Filinvest’s EV charging requirements across its commercial, residential and office developments.
The expansion could help transform more Filinvest properties into EV-ready destinations while supporting the development of a wider charging network for motorists.
As more electric vehicles enter Philippine roads, the availability of reliable charging facilities in malls, workplaces, residential communities and other high-traffic locations will be critical in encouraging broader adoption.
Movem President and CEO Ralph Menchavez said charging infrastructure should become a natural part of motorists’ daily routines.
“At Movem, we believe EV charging should fit naturally into people’s daily routines. Our partnership with Filinvest at Festival Mall brings reliable and convenient charging closer to where people live, work, and spend their time,” Menchavez said.
He added that Festival Mall provides a practical setting for integrating EV charging into the customer experience.
“Through the ChargeM app, we complement the physical charging infrastructure with a seamless and user-friendly digital experience, making EV charging easier and more accessible while supporting the continued growth of electric mobility in the Philippines,” he said.
The partnership underscores how property developers and mobility providers are increasingly working together to build the infrastructure needed for a more electrified transport system.
By putting chargers in destinations already used for shopping, work and leisure, the companies are seeking to make EV charging less of a separate activity and more of an everyday convenience.
