Former bodyguards of ex-congressman Zaldy Co accused Sen. Francis Escudero on Tuesday of receiving money allegedly delivered in maletas to his residence.
The claim was made during a press conference attended by 18 former employees of Co and four other individuals.
Two of those who appeared before the media alleged that they delivered maletas of different sizes to Escudero’s house.
They claimed the maletas contained cash intended for the senator.
One individual also alleged that they were allowed inside Escudero’s house and ate shrimp with members of the household staff.
The press conference was led by former lawmaker Mike Defensor.
Defensor has been accused of offering Php 5 million to the 18 supposed former bodyguards in exchange for testimonies against government officials.
The allegation against Escudero remained developing, and the initial report did not include a response from the senator.
