Urban Label by Maria & Co has partnered with Epson Philippines Corporation to launch a striking new textile collection that transforms Filipino cultural heritage into contemporary fashion.
Centered on the Waling-Waling, revered as the Queen of Philippine Flowers, the collaboration demonstrates how technology and tradition can converge to produce garments that are both visually powerful and thoughtfully made.
The project was made possible through the support of ES Print Media, Inc., which connected Epson with designer Beatriz Nicole Benadera. The result is a collection that elevates the Waling-Waling from botanical icon to commanding design narrative—its vivid hues and intricate structure translated into flowing silhouettes that celebrate Filipino identity.\

Long regarded as a symbol of resilience and natural beauty, the Waling-Waling takes center stage in garments that draw inspiration from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Rather than relying on heavy embellishments, Benadera treated fabric as the primary storytelling medium.
Prints, color gradations, and placement were engineered to shape each piece, allowing the textile itself to define form and movement.
Powering this creative process was Epson’s SureColor SC-F9430H digital textile printer. The advanced printing system enabled high-resolution photographic references of the Waling-Waling to be reproduced with exceptional color fidelity and precision.
Large-format panels were printed in single outputs, preserving intricate floral details while ensuring seamless visual continuity across each garment.

Beyond aesthetic execution, the collaboration highlights the evolving role of digital textile printing in responsible fashion. Epson’s on-demand production capabilities reduce material waste and allow designers greater control over output, aligning creativity with mindful manufacturing practices.
The approach reflects a broader shift within the industry toward sustainability without compromising design ambition.\
“Working with Epson completely changed my creative process,” Benadera said. “It allowed textile design to become part of each garment and shifted my approach from designing around limitations to designing with confidence.”
For Epson, the partnership reinforces its long-standing commitment to precision, reliability, and innovation in professional printing solutions. “Epson has decades of experience in precision printing,” said Masako Kusama, Director and President of Epson Philippines Corporation. “Our solutions help designers execute ideas with clarity while supporting mindful production.”
The collection marks a forward-looking moment for Filipino fashion—where heritage is not merely referenced but embedded into fabric through technology. By translating the Waling-Waling into wearable art, Urban Label by Maria & Co and Epson demonstrate that cultural storytelling can thrive alongside modern tools, setting a new standard for innovation rooted in identity.
