Dear mindful readers,

How is everyone doing today? Taking a sip of your favorite coffee or tea? Or perhaps just reading your favorite source of news in the Daily Chronicle while perched on your leather Chesterfield sofa? Well…whatever it is you’re doing, here’s some good news for all environment warriors and stakeholders.

Last November 13, the Green Wheels 2024: Environmental Compliance On-the-Go caravan, a project of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Central Luzon of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in partnership with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), opened at the Harbor Point Ayala Mall, Subic Bay Freeport (SBF).

The two-day event featured a One-Stop Shop area, where clearances and permits of freeport investors were processed, as well as the conduct of a briefing on the necessary requirements and new laws that were passed for environmental compliance.

Green Wheels also featured an Information Education and Communication (IEC) caravan that provided technical assistance with applications for EMB compliance, and information on the new policies and mandates of the bureau.

SBMA acting-Deputy Administrator for Administration Vicente A. Evidente Jr. and EMB Clearance and Permitting Division Chief Engr. Raldy R. Pagador graced the IEC Caravan on Thursday, with around 100 participants.

Evidente and Pagador joined Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Division (EMED) Engr. Nesty Mendiola and SBMA Ecology Center’s Policy and Monitoring Division Chief Rossell Abuyo in the ribbon-cutting ceremony in formally opening the caravan.

The Subic Bay leg of Green Wheels 2024 is a collaborative effort between the EMB, SBMA, and local government units to promote environmental sustainability and compliance across all regions. It is a vital initiative in the resounding call for environmental conservation, illustrating the power of community engagement and public education in fostering a greener and more compliant society.

The Green Wheels Environmental Compliance On-the-Go caravan was launched by the DENR in June 2023 as a gentle yet assertive reminder that everyone has a stake in protecting the environment, and collective action is crucial for sustainable progress and development.

One planet. One home. One humanity.

Love and light,
