The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday provided an update on the election gun ban, reporting that the number of arrested violators has now reached 691 as of Thursday.
The PNP stated that most of the arrests were made in Metro Manila (206 individuals), followed by Central Luzon (117), and Central Visayas (70).
A total of 692 firearms were confiscated from the violators, including 268 revolvers, 208 pistols, 33 gun replicas, 17 Class A firearms, 13 explosives, 6 shotguns, and 138 other items.
Comelec Resolution No. 11067 mandates that the election gun ban be in effect from January 12 to June 11 to prevent election-related violence.
There has been one confirmed election-related incident in Western Visayas.
Additionally, one unconfirmed election-related incident in Central Luzon is under investigation and in the process of validation.
The PNP confirmed that 10 previously reported incidents in Western Visayas, Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Region, and Soccsksargen were not related to the elections.
The campaign period for senatorial candidates and party-list groups will run from February 11 to March 10, 2025. In contrast, the campaign for candidates running for the House of Representatives and local elections (parliamentary, provincial, city, and municipal) will take place from March 28 to May 10.
Election Day is scheduled for May 12. Overseas voters will be able to vote from April 13 to May 12, while local absentee voters can cast their votes from April 28 to 30.
